Field Trips

Wednesday, September 18: First Nations Eco-experience at Grouse Mountain

Details: we will meet at the roundabout at 8:15 for an 8:30 sharp departure for North Vancouver (we’re taking the Quest Bus). We’ll be back at approximately 3:30.

Schedule: we’ll be taking the gondola at 9:30 to the peak of Grouse, where we’ll spend the morning having a Q&A session with a Squamish First Nations Elder (named Willy) and a cultural presentation focusing on their relationship with nature. We’re on our own for lunch from 12:30-1:00, so bring something to eat! Following lunch, we’ll be taking a guided eco-walk through the Grouse Mountain wildlife refuge.

Sunday, September 22: What’s at Stake? Tar Sands Oil to and from our Coast – a talk at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam.

Details: we will meet at the roundabout for a 5:00 pm departure (we’ll be taking two Quest vans). The talk runs from 6:45-9:30, so we can expect to be back on campus by 11.
